A striking ceremonial Tyler sword (also spelled Tiler) that brings together traditional Freemasonry symbolism and a rich red-and-gold design. With its red velvet-covered handle, gold-colored hilt and pommel, Masonic symbols, a 440 stainless steel blade and a matching scabbard, this is a distinguished decorative and ceremonial display piece for Freemasons, Masonic Lodges and collectors.
With an overall length of ±84 cm and a ±58 cm blade, this is a more compact Tyler sword – ideal for anyone wanting a ceremonial piece that, thanks to the included scabbard, also displays well laid out or stored.
The role of the Tyler
The Tyler is traditionally the Brother who keeps watch outside the door of the Lodge and controls access to the meeting. The sword became closely tied to this office and symbolises guarding the boundary of the Lodge – keeping out what does not belong within it. Historically the Tyler carried a sword as the implement of his office; English sources record that by around 1738 the Tyler was armed with a sword. Masonic writings also connect the Tyler’s sword with the Flaming Sword of Genesis, said to guard the way to the Tree of Life.
Red, gold and Masonic design
The combination of red and gold gives this sword a strong ceremonial appearance. The red velvet provides a rich contrast against the gold-colored components, while the hilt and pommel carry Masonic symbols and decorative detailing. The silver-toned stainless steel blade completes the classic whole.
The Perfect Gift for a Freemason
A distinctive gift for a Brother, Tyler, Lodge officer, Master Mason or collector. The mix of red velvet, gold-colored Masonic detailing, a stainless steel blade and an included scabbard makes it a standout gift and display piece – at home in a Lodge room, study, office or collection.
Also available in larger versions with a wall mount, with straight or flaming blades, in red and blue.
